Here is a quick iPhone video of my 1983 Marshall 2203 JCM 800. I play straight into the amp and then use a simple boost. The cabinet has Celestion Vintage 30s in it.I'm playing a stock Gibson Explorer. The boost used is a Boss GE-7 that is made in Japan.https://kervinlaw.com

Hi -- this is my very first Youtube guitar video. I thought I'd begin with the Marshall DSL5C combo.I bought this amp as a companion to the Marshall JCM 800 Studio Classic 20 watt combo because it has a clean channel.Here I'm just playing some riffs on the red channel using the iphone camera and internal microphone. This gives you a real life representation of what it sounds like in "real life."I'm using a stock Gibson Explorer with ceramic pickups. I will compare this sound to micing it with a Shure SM57 in the next video. The SM57 adds a lot of high end sizzle that the amp doesn't really have in real life. My biggest complaint with this amp is that it doesn't have a presence knob -- it's very dark sounding to me.Also, it's not as immediate in response as the single channel 800s I have. So it's not as responsive or inspiring to play. I find all the DSL series to be that way.https://kervinlaw.com
